serversathome-personal c997a774ff Add configurable output folder; fix timeline offset drift
Output folder is now selectable in the UI ("Save to") and persisted to
config, defaulting to ~/Videos. Project-folder mode creates its named
folder inside it; without a project folder the _cut files go straight
there instead of next to the sources.

Also:
- Accumulate combined-timeline offsets in whole frames instead of
re-truncating a seconds Fraction each clip, which drifted and could
overlap clips when source timelines had differing frame rates.
- Skip outputs auto-editor reported success for but never wrote, so a
missing file can't abort the whole combined timeline.
- Hoist the per-call `re` import, widen minsize for the new rows.

AutoCut

A Windows GUI tool for automatically removing silence from OBS Studio screen recordings, producing FCPXML timeline files for DaVinci Resolve.

Features

  • Silence removal powered by auto-editor
  • FCPXML export for DaVinci Resolve (free version compatible)
  • Batch processing — select multiple clips, process them all at once
  • Choosable output folder — pick where results are saved; the choice is remembered between runs (defaults to ~/Videos)
  • Project folder workflow — creates a named folder inside the output folder, moves clips into it, and generates individual + combined timelines
  • Combined timeline — merges all processed clips into a single FCPXML timeline with clips placed sequentially, ready to import as one timeline in DaVinci Resolve
  • Presets — Tutorial, Fast-paced, and Relaxed with adjustable threshold and margins
  • Drag and drop support (with tkinterdnd2)

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11
  • Python 3.10+
  • auto-editor v29+ — pip install auto-editor, an auto-editor.exe next to the script, or auto-editor on PATH (resolved in that order)
  • FFmpeg on PATH (winget install Gyan.FFmpeg)

Usage

  1. Install auto-editor (pip install auto-editor) or place auto-editor.exe in the same folder as autocut.pyw
  2. Double-click autocut.pyw or run: pythonw autocut.pyw
  3. Select your OBS clips, pick a preset, set Save to (the output folder), and hit Process
  4. Import the resulting .fcpxml files into DaVinci Resolve via File → Import → Timeline

Where files land

Mode Result
Project folder on <Save to>/<project name>/ — clips moved in, plus individual and combined timelines
Project folder off _cut files written straight into <Save to>; sources are left untouched

If one clip is entirely below the audio threshold, auto-editor reports "Timeline is empty" and that clip is skipped — the remaining clips still produce a combined timeline, and the summary reports how many were skipped.

Presets

Preset Threshold Margin Before Margin After Best For
Tutorial 4% 0.2s 0.3s Narrated walkthroughs
Fast-paced 4% 0.1s 0.15s Snappy edits
Relaxed 3% 0.3s 0.5s Conversational content
